The bad news is, after some time you will find out that your scissors have grown dull and are not cutting so well as they used to.

In fact, any kind of metal blade (scissors included) need to be sharpened from time to time.
The good news is, you can easily sharpen your scissors at home and I’m telling you how to do it.
Actually, to sharpen your scissors you can use any hard - but smooth - cylinder, either made of metal or glass: just make sure you choose something that you don’t mind damaging.
In this case, to sharpen your dull scissors you need some 150 or 200 grit sandpaper.
Aluminum foil is common in all kitchens and you can use it to sharpen your dull scissors.
Whetstone
If you have a whetstone, try this method as it will make the blades sharper and keep them that way for a longer period of time. Remember that it takes more time and skill to sharpen blades using a whetstone, but this becomes easier with practice.
Sharpen your scissors with a bottleneck
Actually, to sharpen your scissors you can use any hard - but smooth - cylinder, either made of metal or glass: just make sure you choose something that you don’t mind damaging.
- Place the bottleneck between the scissors’ blades, open and push the scissors against it, as close to the handle as possible
- Now start “cutting” the glass, running the full length of the blades along the bottleneck, without applying much pressure
- Repeat the process several times, until your scissors get well sharpened
Sharpen your scissors with sandpaper
In this case, to sharpen your dull scissors you need some 150 or 200 grit sandpaper.
- Place the sandpaper sheet face down on your working surface
- Use your scissors to cut a few strips of sandpaper - the blades of your scissors will get sharper after each cut.
Sharpen your scissors with aluminum foil
Aluminum foil is common in all kitchens and you can use it to sharpen your dull scissors.
- Take a piece of aluminum foil about 10 inches long and fold it lengthwise several times to make it thick
- Now use your dull scissors to cut some strips, until your scissors blades are sharpened.
Whetstone
If you have a whetstone, try this method as it will make the blades sharper and keep them that way for a longer period of time. Remember that it takes more time and skill to sharpen blades using a whetstone, but this becomes easier with practice.
