Traditionally, Hardanger embroidery was made white-on –white, characterized by geometric patterns. Recently, multiple colours have been introduced. Hardangen embroidery, in fact, is undergoing continuous changing.
It is performed on a special fabric that counts from 22 to 29 threads per inch (Hardanger fabric). For a perfect result, the cutting of the wire used in Hardanger embroidery is done with the peculiar embroidery scissors - Hardanger scissors.
